Microneedling Aftercare Guidelines
Immediate Aftercare (First 24 Hours):
Avoid Touching the Face:
- Do not touch, press, rub or manipulate the treated area.
- Use clean hands if you need to touch your face.
Avoid Makeup:
- Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow the skin to heal.
Cleansing:
- Use a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser to clean the treated area.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Hydration:
- Apply a hydrating serum or moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated.
- Avoid products with active ingredients like retinoids or acids.
Sun Protection:
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
Day 2 to 7:
Continued Gentle Care:
- Continue using a gentle cleanser and hydrating products.
- Avoid harsh exfoliants, retinoids and products with strong active ingredients.
Avoid Heat:
- Stay away from hot showers, saunas and steam rooms.
- Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, like intense exercise.
No Picking or Scratching:
- Do not pick, scratch or peel any flaking skin. Let it shed naturally.
Sun Protection:
- Continue to avoid direct sun exposure and apply sunscreen daily.
After One Week:
Resume Normal Skincare Routine:
- Gradually reintroduce your regular skincare products, starting with gentle ones.
- Introduce active ingredients like retinoids and acids slowly, monitoring for any irritation.
Hydration and Protection:
- Keep the skin well-moisturized and protected from the sun.
- Use products that promote healing and hydration, such as hyaluronic acid serums.
Avoid Other Treatments:
- Do not undergo other skin treatments (e.g., waxing, laser treatments) for at least 2 weeks post-microneedling.
General Tips:
Stay Hydrated:
- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
Healthy Diet:
- Eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals to support skin healing.
Monitor Your Skin:
- Watch for any signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling or pus.
- Contact your provider if you notice any unusual symptoms or have concerns.
